Can anyone recommend a saddle fitter in Nottingham? I was going to give Debbie Richardson a call as she was recommended to me, but I have heard she only does new saddles/doesn't part exchange? Anyone know?

Anyone else decent in Nottingham?

She does part exchange and also sells second hand saddles. From personal experience using three saddlers in Nottingham though I would reccomend Bridlepaths International who come up to the Nottingham area 2 or 3 times a week. More dear and dont let them sell you a brand new saddle if you dont want one cause they can be a bit pushy but are excellent saddlers!!

I too would recommend bridlepath. They are coming to me next Tuesday infact.
Haven't had any pushiness from them but do agree they're pricey.
I'm being charged £45 for them coming (which can be split if more than one horse/owner) plus £20 for check and £5-15 or flocking. They do a good job in my opinion, which makes them well worth the expense.
Have heard good reports for Milners in Leicestershire - not sure about their prices.

For saddlers that do second hand saddles, Bridlepath are excellent.

Nicola at Vale View is newly qualified, and has a HUGE range of new and second hand, so she would be worth a look too. She really has got great attention to detail, and sells everything from thorowgood to Jag new :D

Ditto Bridlepath! Haven't found them pushy at all, in fact when I've tried to buy new (and probably expensive saddles), they've suggested that I don't, thereby doing themselves out of profit.

Having tried three or four other saddlers, we settle don BI as being the people that seemed to know the most and be the most approachable and understanding, plus our horses do better after they've been out, so all in all, a double thumbs up from me! :D

So saying, had good service from Sheila at Risley Saddlery as well, though I believe she is a saddle fitter (and has the shop), rather than a saddler. My friend has a Morris and Nolan for Big Cob, which was ordered through Shiela, and it's so comfortable! I love riding in it :D

I bought my current saddle from bridlepath, it was the cheapest one that fitted (£800 barnsby) which is now too narrow as he was a thin and very weedy 3 year old when I got it. Last time they came out and reflocked it cost me £70, hence trying to find someone more local. I will give Debbie a call, and Nicola at Vale View I think.

Just don't want to buy another new saddle, and have it lose half its value in 12 months when horse decides to change shape again!

Was considering one of the changable gullet Thorowgood T4's, but would ideally like to try some on first, as although he is a thoroughbred, he isn't high withered, so not sure which style would suit him.

Same thing happened with my TB - had a second hand barsnby narrow from them which got stolen. Insurance paid for a nice new one from them - good job as he had grown into a medium too!
They are pricey but I think they are worth it.

Barnsby's can be adjusted, so you may find it can be changed without a new saddle.... definitely speak to Nicola, she is a barnsby specialist, and is very knowledgeable in adjustments that can be made.....

Thats positive, BP seemed to think I would be looking at a new saddle after the last reflocking though. I checked the Barnsby website and it does say all saddles can be adjusted by 1 width fitting, which could take mine to a narrow/medium from a narrow? Does anyone know how much it costs to do this? Just unsure if I need a medium, then I am best to cut my losses now.... Will give nicola a call when I finish work.
