Hi All, Just doing a little research.... where do you go to buy your horse stuff, do you head to the local saddler or reach for the computer ? Does it make a difference what you are buying i.e. if tack/ rugs etc from a saddler and jods etc from the internet ?

buckets and feed from the feed merchants, everything else comes from an online shop ! It's easier and cheaper most of the time too!

I'd buy more from our local saddlery if it was friendly and not so terribly over priced! I buy stuff from there that are last min sorts of buys - eg if I have lost my hairnets the day before a comp!
I get feed/brooms/buckets etc from the feed merchants.
Rugs I buy online as our local saddler won't exchange if the rug is the wrong size.
Tack I make, with the exception of saddles which I get the saddler out for.

Ladylina - is this because you don't have a saddler near by ? (the easier bit) or because you don't necessarily have the time to get it during the week and don't want to wait until the weekend ?

ThePony - so a combination of price and service

Thanks :-)

Feed - a combination of on line and local.

Tack - mostly local tack shop unless I see a bargain second hand on line or in the paper.

Saddles, again a combination of friendly saddler and on line.

I mostly (have to) search for the cheapest option, but I do like to buy things that need fitting or trying on from my local tack shop - it's a case of use it or lose it - and I would hate to not have somewhere to see things in the flesh before buying. I don't go to my local shop to try things on so I can buy it cheaper on line, that's just wrong to me :)

I work in an office so easy to shop on line and get things delivered to my boyfriends shop, I like bargins so use the clearance websites or sales, there is a tack shop on my way to the farm but it is more of a saddlers and don't carry much stock. The best tack shop near me is 15 mins drive so you are talking about an hour out of your day and when you get there they might not even have a head collar you like in your size etc !

Tbh I do a bit of both. I only have a couple of smallish tack shops near me and they are all a reasonable drive away. Their prices tend to be a little on the high side so if there things I can wait for like new jod's, rug's etc then I always search the internet for the best prices. Small bits like shampoo, tack cleaner brushes etc I always get from tack shops.
