Another saddle post, sorry! I am still hunting for a new saddle, well probably 2nd hand for my wide/flatish backed horse with some withers. Have a GFs which slips to the right, so now riding in a treeless as a temp option (no slippage there). SBloom kindly gave me some tips a while back but am still researching what to buy - its a minefield. Need a 17 1/2" wide fit, ideally VSD as also has biggish shoulders/movement and dont currently jump - looking at Saddle Company for versatility, Ideal, Native Pony - I did sit in a new K & M dressage saddle at the weekend and it was really lovely but dont know if the tree shape will suit my horse - any thoughts please? Dont have a massive budget! :)
 
I tried a kent and masters saddle on my boy who is wide flatish with slight wither. Felt comfy but it moved around behind and he went really badly in it. Wouldnt move forward, head in air. Saddler said that the shape of the tree is not popular with some horses... trend forming with wide flat backs!! I got a lovely heritage gp saddle 2nd hand from my saddlers. fits him a treat and goes so well in it. Now saving for jump saddle!!! good luck x
 
Yeah I tried a kent and masters on my welshie too, he didn't like it either, which is why I went for the Martin Wilkinson VSD. The panels left lots of room for his shoulder as well.

my connie is wide and extremely flat backed. Sbloom fitted my saddle and I have to say it's fab, I get lots of lovely comments and my mare is very happy in it. It started to slip this week but I realised this was due to my mare putting weight on and more importantly my new girth! Now gone back to old girth and all is fine. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. I really struggled with saddles and so glad this was recommended to me by someone off here :)
