SADDLES....Driving Me Mad!!

I brought my mare a John Whitaker Jump Saddle not long ago but didnt fit her correctly so now trying to sell or P/EX for new saddle etc have tried all saddlers by me but they said to sell privately as you would get the money its worth.

Have had a saddler out to my mare and they have recommend Fairfax, Pessoa Legacy XCH, Kent & Masters saddles for her shape. Im after a 17.5 Medium Changeable Gullet Ideally in brown. Good Budget....Can anyone help?!

I feel your pain, I ended up going down made to measure route. Did said saddler not have anyting suitable then? How annoying.

One thing I can recommend is Saddles Direct, for about £35 you can try a couple of saddles and get a feel for what you like (and then either buy straight away or shop around for the same). You can negotiate to keep saddles long enough to have them professionally fitted too.

I did that tried an All Saddle Solutions saddle, loved it but it wasn't quite right, I ma now having one made bespoke.

If they think Kent and masters will fit it is worth seeing if anyone you know has one or a thorowgood as they are on the same tree (like Wintec and Bates)

Feelin' your pain OP. Been there dunnit and wasted a lot of money in the process.

I tried a Kent & Masters on my boy; he's low withered and short backed. "Saddle fitter" said it fitted, my man disagreed and tried to bronc me. From then on I trusted his opinion on the subject!

I've gone treeless now......... I have got a Wintec Wide with the purple 3XXX gullet. Which is OK'ish, and we do use it occasionally, BUT TBH I find treed saddles a tad restricting now. Best buy was an Exmoor Tree-Free which I got on e-bay, which saved me approx £300 on the new purchase price. A lovely little saddle and nice people too.

In case you're looking around on-line........ I feel I should PM you with some people to avoid - as you could end up spending a lot of £££ on something.

So far I've bought a brand new Wow, a Hastilow Concept Monoflap and now have an Ideal Impala Pro I got new last year.

Am having All Saddle Solutions out on Monday to measure him up for a new saddle.

I'm very lucky that my local saddler buys and sells second hand saddles and was able to customize the fit of a second hand albion to my horse when we brought him to him for a fitting.

I absolutely love Albions and I believe that they can be adjusted? I know mine was widened slightly and widened in front by some special saddler magic machine.
My horse has very big shoulders and Welsh D type body that expands every summer, getting a saddle that doesn't pinch his shoulders is the hardest thing.
