what do you lot think of buying saddles on ebay? any stories you could tell me would be fab. reason being i want a new leather saddle but have a minimal budget but am very dubious about buying a saddle on ebay cas me my has very high withers and what if it just doesnt fit? if i were to measure my current saddle and try to get a similar size i.e d ring to d ring etc would the saddle fitter be able to tweak it here and there to make it fit? o i dont know lol

I have sold saddles reasonably succesfully on e-bay but would be very dubious of buying one. Fit is very important and any money saved could be lost if you make your horses back sore by using a poor fitting bargain.

I bought my saddle off ebay but cheated a bit because it was in the next town to me and therefore i could try before i buy!!!

Have sold saddles on ebay too with varying results of happiness from the buyers. All happy with purchase but a couple of them hadnt read the wording carefully and ended up with the wrong size etc, and a couple just plain did not fit!!

I probably would not buy unless i had tried an exact same saddle re make model and fit and therefore could be reasonably sure it would fit!!

I have bought a few saddles on ebay
1 of them didnt fit, so another livery bought it off me
1 wasnt as described, said it was a GP, even though it has no knee rolls, but i couldnt see this from the pics

1 was a perfect fit and i still use.

None of the ones i bought were much over £100 so want too worries about buying them.

I've sold a saddle on Ebay & also bought 3 over the years. The first was an old dressage saddle & it fitted. I later upgraded & sold it back on ebay & got more than I paid

. I've also bought a couple of Bates saddles that were only 6 months old or so. They can be adjusted to fit almost any horse & they did. These were alot cheaper than buying at a saddlers & they came with extras like girth, leathers & stirups, which all saved me even more.

erm.... depending what info it gave you in the advert

What horse had the saddle been previosly been used on (to give extra confirmation if it was likely to fit mine)

How old was the saddle?

what make is it? is it english leather?

measuerments D-D if not given.

Just things like that really

Also asked for pleanty of pics

I bought this one for mine.... obviously for £50 its not the worlds best saddle, but when were only pottering about and doing a bit of schooling, as long as it fits the horse im not too bothered

I have bought and sold quite a few saddles on ebay over the years. I always want to see a lot of pictures and have measurements between the D rings. I have never had a problem (I also look closely at feedback), and there has never been a problem with any that I have sold.
