Any advice on saddle types for a short backed and very wide traditional cob please. Have tried T4/T6 Thorowgood - not wide enough and wintec wide on widest gullet fits width wise but rises up at back when horse moves - Sat a barefoot treeless saddle on him which looked a comfy fit but hope to show him and they are definately not the prettiest or acceptable for the show ring!!
What do other traditional owners ride in please??!!

Any W/XW show saddle :)

ETA - though our wide Falcon Hawk Event saddle also fits them quite well when they're fit anyway.

You will probably need a flatter and shorter in the seat saddle that you think - I find traditionals tend to look slightly scoopy backed yet if you put on a curvy tree it will lift like crazy at the back as you're finding with the Wintec. A shorter flatter seat sits in the middle on the "sweet spot".

Many cob models within other ranges tend to be VSD style rather than WH which is what I'd recommend - also they can have rather round shaped panels which suit some cob shapes but not all - generally better on ones with some wither that aren't quite table top. Look for WH saddles designed for wide backs - they may need to be a "hoop" tree or semi-hopp, where the top of the gullet is an inverted U rather than the normal inverted V. The Wintec even has a kink inwards on the tree and is VERY narrow in the head, not helpful. You will also need flat semi-close contact flocked panels and four girthing straps will help give options to gain maximum stability.
