have had my sports theripist out to day to my boy and have treated his normal problem (pelvis) but have realised h is sore under his saddle so cut story short have decided that a new saddle will be a good idea so went to local saddlery chester saddlery and booked for some one to come so she sugested a few saddles idealey i want a jump/ gp but she sugested a new saddle by kent and masters! has any one got or herd about them good bad ??? the other one was a farringtons use to have and loved it ? just want some info got a wintec close contact on atm and not sitting behind too much movement :(

Kent&Masters are fantastic saddles. Farrington are good too. Give them both a try.:D

Ive got a Kent & Masters cob GP and would thoroughly reccomend it! Ive had it for a year now and it looks just as good now as it did new. Its very comfy and fits like a glove.

Im just about to try a kent and masters GP and a Fairfax. Also heard Farringtons are excellent too so id give that a try also if i were you! its so hard to find the right saddle

We had the saddler out on Friday and she's suggested a Kent and Masters GP for the NF - he's chunky. Daughter tried a K&M VSD and it was quite nice and she said very comfy but, saddler thought the GP style would suit daughters lengthy leg better and what she wanted to do better, so we've one on order. We need something with changeable width as pony is getting more muscled up and his current Wintec was getting too narrow so we're taking the opportunity to get a new saddle for him so we have a brown saddle for showing, WHP as well as SJ (he's a good allrounder type) and passing the Wintec on to the other pony but with a narrower gullet fitted for him - he's skinny. Thought the K&M saddles looked very well made - am I sad or what but I am really looking forward to cleaning it, you just can't clean a synthetic in the same way!

Both are made at the Thorowgood factory in Walsall. (I know I've seen them make them there)

I have the K&M jump saddle and really love it.

I have a kent and masters and like it too... Funnily enough though need the saddler back out again as mine has changed shape, but so far so good.x

Kent and Masters is the leather thorowgood. Exactly the same tree, but leather. Love my thorowgood, it's a super saddle, so expect the K+M is very good too :)

Not surprised your wintec is lifting at the back- they aren't good saddles at all imo, and what you're experiencing is a very common problem.

i tried a K&M - alas the tree shape was wrong for HRH (she actually needs a banaa shaped tree - i suspect wintec would have suited her but i wasn't praparwed to go down that route ;)) but i'd have bought one if it had fitter her :)
fairfax are basically the same saddle but with slightyl better quality leather and a few other differences...
both made by thorowgood :)

K+M do an adjustable one too don't they? Is that the leather 'thorowgood version' one?

Interesting-good to hear K+M are good saddles, I was fancying a leather adjustable one as my horse changes shape when the wind blows, and after 3 saddles in 18m I've had to resort to a wintec- fits him well, he's happy but I just can't get over my leather snobbery:rolleyes:

Probably a really daft question, but is Kent and Masters and Fairfax the same manufacturer/company? Why are there two?

yup = both made by thorowgood
slight differnce in design and leather quality - fairfax is more expensive by a couple of £100 last time i checked :)

why are there two makes instead of one? prob a marketing ploy ;)
