Put a post in the Lounge, but that has disappeared now.

Our yard was robbed in the night Thursday 17th April. They broke the locks/crowbar'd the doors of 30 odd individual tackrooms. YO lives on site but did'nt hear anything. They only took the best saddles, leaving older and postmarked saddles. It was a very professional job.

As far as I know, most will not be able to claim on the insurance with only having a bog standard padlock on their tack room, so a lot of very upset people.

Police hunt stable thieves

POLICE are hunting thieves who broke into stables and stole thousands of pounds worth of riding equipment.
The attack took place between midnight and 6am on Friday at Daisy Meadow Farm on New Hey Lane, Newton.

Detectives believe the raiders entered the premises and emptied lockers before making off with between £8,000 and £10,000 worth of gear - including saddles, bridles, rugs and grooming kits.

Now officers are warning those who move in horse circles to look out for stolen property for sale on the black market or via internet auction site eBay.

PC Matt Cross of St Annes Police said: "There are three entrances to the farm so it is difficult to tell where they have entered the premises but with the amount stolen they have probably used a van.

"They have gone into the large out buildings containing 30 to 40 stables and broken the padlocks off lockers before removing items of kit.

"The sort of items stolen would only be of interest to people who have horses so we want to hear from anyone who may see goods they believe have been stolen when they are attending horse fairs or meetings.

"They could also try to sell them via eBay which we will be monitoring and keeping an eye on.

"We are also appealing for witnesses who may have seen a vehicle entering or leaving the property late at night."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on (01253) 293933 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
