If somebody dropped their saddle, and then immediately picked it up it wasn't trodden on etc etc, is it likely to have any serious damage???
is there anything he/she should check for, any obvious signs of damage to the tree? would you still ride in it if it were you? have any of you ever dropped your saddle?

Depends what sort it is and how you dropped it and on what surface

For example Wintec used to advertise their indestructable saddle by showing a car running over one.

I wouldn't have thought you will have done a lot of damage, other than to the surface leather.

If you are worried take it to your local saddler, ours will have a quick look to check for damage and has never charged me.

if you rest the cantle on your hip and pull back on the pommel (if that makes sense) you can feel if the tree has given way. If it sags then it's a big no for using.

I dropped mine once, but it was fine :)
