Looking at saddles as need to get one for new horse. I have seen a few I like the look of, but they are made in France - so although I can send measurements, etc out to get it made to fit, I won't actually be able to try it and see how comfortable it is! Is this the usual practice or do you like to try a saddle before buying it?

Oh, I would want a master saddler out with several differnt styles and fits.

I would never, ever buy something unseen - and would certainly never try and fit it myslef. I simply don't have the experience - nor do most people.

i defo like to see it on the horse first. things may be measured right but final fit on a horse can be drastically different in my experience. best to try b4 you buy in my experience- just my opinion though

id never buy a saddle without having it fitted to the horse and to myself first. Theres no point getting a saddle that fits the horse and not you and vice versa.

I always have a master saddler come out to fit my saddles, its a bit like clothes, one saddle in the same size will vary to another when it sits on your horse. Def get a saddler out!

Thanks, I will do!! How much does it cost to get a proffessional saddler out?
