I know this subject is probably done to death, but it's looking like I may need a new saddle. Mine is currently to narrow for my big broad shouldered Section D.
He's currently in an Ideal Grandee I love it as nice and narrow in the twist/waist for me.
Has anyone had this sort of saddle widened by a fitter? How much risk is there?

I also rode in a Connect Saddle by Frank Baines on him yet which was amazing but very much doubt my budget will stretch that far 🙈.

Any ideas or words of wisdom please

According to two saddlers I asked much the same question they are able to widen them by a size or so if they aren’t too old.
I had a much loved Impala that was ancient and just to narrow for my horse (it had belonged to two previous horses) One said they could try but it might break it! The other said it wasn’t something they were happy to do to an older tree.

Ideal trees are generally fairly solid and can cope with some adjustment, depending on how old and how many times, and in which directions, it might have already been adjusted. A question for your fitter as we all work differently. The tree in the Grandee is a medium twist, though we all experience twist (and waist, the bit between the very upper thighs) differently as it depends on your pelvic shape and dimensions and how your hips hang :)

Thank you both.
I do believe the saddle is a few years old but hopefully not to old.
It should only need to be widen a bit as just slightly tight on him.
@sbloom it is the waist I Iike slightly narrower but if I mention waist alot of people look at me like I'm crazy so I thought I'd possibly made it up 🙈.

Thank you again
