Can I ask what chews people give their dogs to keep them amused?

When we need to leave Rowan we give her a frozen kong with peanut butter/paste and also usually something like a jumbone.

When we are at home and want to give her something to amuse herself (i.e. like today when I'm working from home) I'll give her some rawhide treats or pigs ears which I know some people don't like and at the moment she has a triped filled calcium bone.

What other chews would be good for her? Are the pet store ones any good - I recently bought her a bag of mixed bones including filled hooves, lamb ribs but it doesn't say if they are cooked or not and I'm scared to give them to her.

She's quite an accomplished chewer so looking for some that will last her a while!

I used a sterilized bone, with the marrow still in it. Lasted MONTHS - the bone gradually got nibbled away and the marrow as he could get at it.

Moppet - do you just get your bones from the butchers?

Morag4 - where do you get your dried fish treats?

I'll try the stag bars - my old boy never liked them but she might.

Unfortunately, neither of mine are interested in antlers. I got one about a year-and-a-half ago (when Brochan was an only dog) and it's hardly been touched (and Neamhnaid has been here five months). I also got a sterilised bone ages ago and it has been more miss than hit. This is it - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Real-long..._Steamers_Cookers_PP&var=&hash=item484249f272 You can get them smoked too. The sterilised one is quite crumbly and won't splinter. So I would say they are safe and would last a while as they are big.
