Do they exist? We have been searching for a couple of months now for a safe and sensible 14.2hh pony for someone and can not find anything. Money isn't a problem so why can't we find anything. Do people just not sell their ponies any more?

One of my PC kids has had the same problem and has only just found one after forever looking, she had to go onto a little island in Scotland to find it - i'm sure it is out there, just maybe hiding at the moment! X

Yep they do exist, I have one

8yr old had her from a real baby though, puts up with me riding her occasionly, takes my daughter hunting, showing to county level, just started jumping and getting double clears, working hunter to gymkanna clases, very rarely puts a foot wrong, what price would i put on her????????I can't she's priceless

Sounds like we need to keep searching then.

We're not worried if it needs a adult to get on occasionally but it needs to be safe for a nervous 10yr old.

I know what you are going through, I started looking last year, bought one a few months ago, and he has not turned out to be the safe, fun pony we thought, so he is going back to the dealers and I am starting my search again!

Good luck, and if you happen to find two, can I have one!!!!!

Putting a wanted ad up can be a good idea.

I was actually looking for one like you, but in the end I got a 13.1 through word of mouth who is built like a tank, takes 5'6-5'9 rugs but has comparatively short legs in relation to the size of her body, not that it is obvious when you look at her, and it hasn't stopped her being placed in the top 3 at county level showing. She is absolutely perfect in every other way apart from her height, and has completely restored my daughter's shattered confidence in the 6 months we've had her.

We were offered lots, some who would have been suitable, others not so. Have you got a local equestrian web site, I used NFED which is our local one. I wasn't going to start going nationwide to look at unsuitable ponies!

I would also add that my two sweethearts are both New Forest Ponies, and I know a lot of other NFPs who are just as kind as they are, so would wholeheartedly recommend them as a breed.

They do exist - our other pony is 14.1 and a wonderful saint, loved by everyone who meets him, including our DC which is no mean feat in itself as they've seen it all over the years!

Is that the one jumping? We looked at that but it says competent teen and the girl is a nervous 10yr old. Is a lovely looking pony though.

I got one that was actually advertised the same as your post.

She is an angel and I'm getting my confidence back no end on her and I've only had her 3 weeks.

Hope you find your quiet pony too !!

Have you tried the pony club website? I think though at this time of year it can be tricky as lots of people keep their ponies for the season and then sell at the end of the year.

Good 14.2's are like gold dust as they can also be ridden by adults as well so have a wide market.

I was looking for something like you were looking for myself and I am an adult and it took 5 months before I found the right pony and he is a NF as well. He is so quiet and gentle even though he is 5 my 6 months old godson can even have a sit on him. He is 14h though not 14.2 but chunky so takes up lots of leg.

I think when your looking for a pony to buy or loan it seems likes there's nothing out there. I'm desperately trying to find a 2nd pony for my daughter, but everything we see seems unsuitable or the owners are timewasters. What makes it worse is trying to explain to a young child why people muck you around.

Hope you find something soon.
