Saftey irons or suggestions?

On saturday i fell off my sons horse,and found it highly amusing at the time,no damage done just a bruised behind!
In hind sight it was dangerous as momentarily(sp)i got my foot caught in the stirrup.Luckily for me,the horse was only small,and he stood still until after i had got my foot out of the iron.....it could have been so much worse.
My problem is that i have to wear fairly chunky riding boots,and my foot goes in the stirrup further than i would like due to a knackered leg,and foot!!
I also leave the stirrup bars down,but my leather didnt slide off.
Any suggestions?
 
I found swan neck stirrups very good but there are probably better ones out there.

May I just say do not opt for peacock irons, luckily they seem to be going out of fashion now but it takes a lot of weight for the rubber to pop off when you need them to, but when you don't want them to pop off they do. I've seen too many people dragged wearing these thinking they're the safer option.
 
Im not over keen on the swan neck ones....my son has got dragged with these,also have heard horror stories about the peacock irons.
I was wondering about the ones with pivot type foot plates,would they work???
My foot became trapped from top to bottom,rather than at the sides.
The barnes buckle looks good.
 
Can I just ask about the comments on the peacock safety irons as I use these and can't see how they wouldn't give way in a crisis?

My foot getting stuck is one of my pet worries so I'm also really interested in any suggestions.

I dont like the peacock safety irons for adults.....they a not up to the weight.I have had one snap clean in half on me before,and have heard several other stories of it happening
