Three of us all 50+ went out for a gentle hack today and someone joked that we should have 'beware SAGA riders' on our tabards. So does anyone want to join our little club? We don't go very fast and don't stay out too long in case anyone needs the toilet - you know what it's like when you're getting on a bit!

I would love to join but am too far away. If you fancy a trip to France let me know. Lots of horsey things to do where I live.

Well the vast majority of the active members of our RC are over 40 and many of them are over 50 (and a few over 60), so we are pretty much there on our own. One of the best attended classes at our Annual Show is the 'Over 40s Equitation'
We are all fighting the slowing down though although one or two of us have to ask especially for the gymkhana games to not include getting on and off.

Me please, I want to join. Pulled a muscle in my back today trying to open a gate and then had to get off. Was a real struggle to get on again! And as for my hips!

Great idea - you can be our PR and marketing person! Any othe ideas for sponsorship? How about Specsavers for those of us who are a bit visually challenged?

Oh yes, I used to work in PR and there is so much untapped potential in the world of shall we say the more mature rider. Imagine the scene, elderly rider leaping over 6ft fence in unblemished pure white jodhpurs. YOU CAN PUT YOUR TRUST IN DIACALM

Yes, please count me in. I've thought a while now about starting a Veteran Rider Society. Why not, we have a Veteran Horse Society so why not a Vet Rider Society. Then we can have our own classes at shows, I know we have the occasional Vet Rider class, but we could have local classes to qualify for regional finals and then maybe HOYS? It's not fair, having to compete against spring chickens anymore, we're not as flexible as them. There would be a pre-vet class - for over 30, then an over 40, over 50 and 60 plus. As long as we don't mind owning up to our ages!! What does everyone think to that?

I am nearly ready for the over 60's and my old boy is 30, pity we are so far away.

Also how about Pony Club games for those who never had a chance when they were kids. I DID do handy pony with my 15.3hh 30 year old at a fun day at a local livery yard.
