Ok - I saw in the post about Brit's foals that someone posted about the Kyle's stallion Sailorman and that people were interested. So....as I know them well and have loved Sailor for years, I thought I would post some more info on him.
He is a fab stallion IMO. He is own by John and Gillian Kyle, (Mark Kyle's parents) and whilst he himself is actually a dressage horse with Gillian (in her non existent spare time), his event stock are certainly proving their worth already - he only has a handful that have so far come of age but those that have are certainly proving themselves under saddle with Mark already. Plus the fact that Sailor himself does dressage at a decent level ...
One of his oldest is Bobstay, who was recently 'crowned' the winner of the Scottich Novice Championships. In this, his first season out eventing, he has also already clocked up 31 BE points, having been in the top 5 at nearly all his novice events (winning several) and placing 8th at Burgie 1* as well...pretty good for a young horse I think....
Mark's wife Tanya has also just taken another Sailor baby out on his first event...Mark will likely take over the ride next year I imagine.
Mark's advanced/3* horse, Step in Time II is also the half brother to Sailor - both of them being out of the mare Festival Time and so this is definitely a decent eventing line as Step in Time and now Sailor's progeny, are proving....
All in all Sailor is an awesome and very useful stallion. They generally have lovely temperaments and go one to be very useful horses, from what we have seen so far.....only big downside is that he is only available by natural cover (don't think they've ever done AI at all with him) - otherwise we would be using him on our mare's over here in a shot!
