Hi,

My mare had bi-lateral hock arthrodesis 2 years ago in order to fuse her hock bones to counterract bog-spavin. She is now 100% sound, and is back to the same level of work as she was pre-lameness (which was only 2/10 in the first place). Now, I am thinking of selling her, as I am going to move to America next year.

She is a 14.2hh M/W Tovero mare, who has done lots of p/c and r/c, as well as Local shows, and jumps up to 3'6 ish. Very good to box/shoe/clip etc etc. May try to figure out how to post photos to show....

I was just wondering what people would think if they heard that a horse they were interested had undergone this...if it really is going to limit who takes her. I know that lots of competition horses have arthritis/joint problems, and they sell I guess.

I have been looking on various websites, and see her type, sound, for anwhere from 2500 - 4500. She would be going with all tack and very full wardrobe (which I figure would be at least an extra 750!).

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, and I will try to put up some photos.

I don't think it should put people off too much. If she is still able to do all the pc/rc and jumping up to the height you say, then she is obviously not affected but it, so as long as she can pass a 5 stage vetting, you shouldn't have too many problems. And it was a couple of years ago, so buyers should see that she is recovered and sound. Good luck and she sounds gorgeous! And pics would be lovely

Thanks. I am going to have my vet out in February to do a long term prognosis for me so I know whether she would pass a vetting ....totally sound. If she is totally sound, then she would pass right?
Still trying to find the photos, stuck on my camera, but may move a few over from Facebook!
