Salmonella poisioning

Hi, does anyone know much about it. A horse on my old yard was pts yesterday,its first fell ill only 24hrs before.

It's nasty and can be passed to other animals and humans fairly easily.

I suggest you google it and take note of all the symptoms and all the hygiene suggestions for dealing with it.

A friend of mine lost her mare to salmonella poisoning years ago. Any ideas how the horse picked it up?

Hi, i dont think they know yet. The vet was going to do an autopsy. There doesnt seem to be much on the net about it either, so i dont fully understand it.

Here's a link to a pdf that I found. It looks to be really good. Basically Salmonella is spread through faecal to oral contamination. It invades the lining of the gut and causes diarrhoea (among other symptoms). Hopefully this helps!!

i would bet it was on quite wet haylage or dodgy haylage,
