Unfortunately there is nowhere in my horses stable that I can safely put a salt lick holder. However, I though about putting it in his feed manger but do you think he would get too much salt and / or the lick would wash away too quickly if I put his wet feed in there aswell?

I have hung mini rock salts (with the ropes in my boxes, one also has one in his old lickit holder - just took the rope off! Gets around having to stick anything on the wall! means you can wash your mangers as normal!

I have the same problem. My neds is in his feed bowl.I can't say it has had a detrimental effect on his health. The other good thing is that it makes him eat his dinner slower.

I put one of those big red brick salt licks in the manger and they seem fine. Just lick it as they want

Lots of useful ideas - thanks!

I think I will leave the one he has got in his feed bowl and try to buy one on a string / in a box for next time.
