I bought a salt block a while ago for my horse while he was still living in over night.
hes not impressed with it to say the least and hasnt touched it at all!
hes out 24/7 now excpet when i bring him in to ride or when i leave him in for a bit to chill out with a haynet

depsite it only costing 99p I dont want to see it go to waste so would it be ok to crush and put it into his feed?
imagine it will be but just wanted to check...sorry if i sound stupid

As horses tend to take what they want and he wasn't taking any of it I don't think I would be putting it his feed TBH. Now it is hotter you may find that he is more likely to take some salt, so how about hanging it up in his field somewhere?

I bought one for my horse whilst he was at old yard and living in, he never touched it so gave it away. Where he is now, they have them next to tying up spots. He lives out 24/7 and only comes in to eat or be ridden, and now he can not get enough of the lick it !!! worth keeping and offering it when she comes in.

Some love it if a bucket water available at the same time as they dribble the water over it and then lick !!!

My horse has a round rock salt one (orange in colour) that is on a rope. You can buy these in tack shops. The salt is meant to be more natural. I have to say he DOES lick it.....seems to like it.

My horse used to have a small square salt lick (the one's you put in holders), he never looked at it. Recently I have put a large round rock salt one (same as Mickeys) and he actually uses it now!

my lump of rock salt regulally bashed me on the head and gathered dust hanging mid stable. Now its on the wall above his water bucket it melts into the water.
