Anyone ever had a problem with ponies fighting over them and causing injury? I purchased a Himalayan salt lick for field and was told by YO that under no circumstances was I allowed to put it out there. Given above reason for not doing so.

If they are likely to fight over a salt lick I would be worried that they are desperate for it and really need some supplied in some form, either in the feed or several licks to choose from, mine dont really bother with theirs but from time to time use them. I feed salt each day to my horses that are in work.

Mine love the Himalayan licks and will squeal and threaten to kick over theirs. Normal salt licks in other parts of the field and in the stables don't cause the same problems just those ones

Mine love Himalayan salt licks too i put in more than one to avoid salt wars they have them in their stables too but still squabble in the field over them.

I just have regular mineral blocks in my fields and the horses use them but aren't all over themselves for them. I don't use the Himalayan licks but you aren't the first person by any means that I've heard mention there being fighting over them so I think your YO possibly does have reason to ask you not to put it in the field.

Ours have never fought over them and wedo have some particularly dominant individuals!! I would out several out if fighting was a concern
