Salt or salt lick?

Hi, after reading through another post, just a quick question to clear something up.

I have 6 ponies, all kept in a field 24/7. I do have stables but they are rarely stabled. I don't give them a paddock or salt lick in the field as they would just spend hours fighting over it. I instead put salt in their dinner. Is this ok? What salt should I use? is table salt ok?

Yep in the dinner is fine.

If you put the block out in the paddock they will initial push each other around for a lick but after a while they will just lick it when they feel like it and the scraps won't happen.

I add salt to their dinners too.

We use paddock licks and stable licks.
