I used Showmaker a few years ago on a well made 3/4TB 1/4 Hessen mare.
I have retained the colt who is 2 this year. The mare throws tall foals anyway, so no surprise that he is a big boy. He has also inherited mum's beautiful head. Showmaker seems to have added more elasicity to the movement.
Temperament is super, very laid back. Showmaker himself has super manners and is a total pussy cat (just a rather big one) and my mare has very trainable babies, so I never had any worries temperament wise
Not a great photo but this was him at about 17 months
Don't know about any progeny, but I thought Samba Hit was stunning in the shearwater pot. International 5yo class at the BD Nationals the year before last, and when I saw him at the Convention I thought he looked even better - yum!!
I saw him at a stallion parade last year and fell in love, and then was lucky enough to see him at home and as Volatis says, he is a big pussy cat with fantastic manners and temperament.
The mare I have is uphill, compact, 16.2 and a little hot (without being naughty). Am looking for a British based stallion with a bit more size, range, good front leg use and an even temperament. Both seem to fit the bill! Are they both correct in leg conformation?
wouldn't use either of them. Sorry. Samba Hit because he's very, very unproven. And even with one of the best riders in the country on board has spotty results. Showmaker because I question his hind end and way of going.
Rhondeo is a very nice stallion that ticks all your boxes. He's a super mover, has excellent competition results and his temperament is unbelievable. I think he's half labrador!
Hi, I used Samda Hit III before he came to the UK by default as Sam Amore was not available. He wouldn't of been a first choice match for my mare, but I was still very pleased with the result. A beautiful filly with a temperament to die for. She gained a Premium with the Oldenburg and a first Premium with the BEF in 07. Unfortunately I lost her in a field accident on New Years Eve 09. She was an absolute pleasure to deal with but so was her mother. I think if you had a sharp mare Samba Hit III would be ideal.
