I've just received a letter from The Pony Sanctuary (swep.org.uk), which isn't a charity I was aware of tbh, but anyway, the letter tells me that I have already been selected to receive a small cash sum, and by filling in the claim coupon, I will be entered into The Pony Sanctuary £10,000 instant cash prize draw.
Am I just incredibly naive, or does this seem bizarre to you too? If they've got that sort of cash floating about, shouldn't they be spending it on feed or worming treatments or something?
Ive been involved with some local charities and it's damn hard to encourage the public to spend or donate money, and (assuming it' not a total scam and they are actually be going to be giving someone £10k) I'm sure it would be hard to cover and exceed that amount just through donations that come off the back of this promotion. You also don't need to donate anything in order to enter.
It does say that the prizes have been offered by their sponsors, but they don't name these sponsors. Every significant sponsor that I've been involved with in the past has wanted their name acknowledged, or their company well advertised in return. Also, you'd have thought these 'sponsors' would have preferred their money to be spent on saving the ponies wouldn't you?
