I need to resurface one of our Riding Arenas on the farm.
Currently it is about 6 uear old wood fibre but it has gine all squishy with breaking down and absorbing water. So I need to get rid of it. Any ideas ?? I was thinking I might just keep it and stickpile and dry it for using in a wood burnings stove, or would do for gardeners I suppose.
I want to use sand this time so it is more durable and so it rides years round, maybe witha little rubber chip from tyre recyclers.
What specs of sand should I ask for when getting quotes.
I can get river sand off a field that keeps flooding and the sand is deposited by the floods. This is Highland Burns so not a lot of silty stuff, quite coarse in fact.
The area is 47 m x 27 m and I want about 6ins compacted and I estimate about 300 mt, is this about right ??
Many thanks and advice on experience.
Is a membrane really necessary. We used one for the woodfibre but seems to be clogged up from the wood breaking down.
