Hi there,
Can anyone give me any advise on my menage. I have just had the silica sand layed over membrane on a stone base with drainage. As i have had to do this stage by stage when i can afford it i was hoping that now we have the warmer weather for a few weeks i could use the school with just the sand until i purchase the rubber to add to it.
However its been levelled out today and it looks great...But it seems very deep !! its only 6 inches or a little more.
Is there anything i can do to compact it? Any tips? Will it change over the next few weeks if we have some rain etc? I have heard theyre always deep to start with ???
What are you opinions of a sand school are they useable?

Many thanks :)

A sand school that has just been put down & levelled will appear to be deep initially. The best way of settling it is for a good lot of rain on it, putting a sprinkler on it can help but it needs to be on a long time to have any real effect. Once it's been well rained on & then the rubber goes onto it it will help keep moisture in it & it will ride well. We have a 'Turfloat' surface & that is very dry at the moment & riding a little deep but once we have some rain it'll be fine....as yours will be. :)
