sandcracks and treatment?

My mare has developed a sand crack from her coronet band down. The farrier said to keep an eye on it and I brought her in yesterday lame. The crack has started to bleed slightly - the vet thinks it's infected and has put her on antibiotics.


Does anyone have any experience of this and what I can expect when the farrier comes back out today and reciovery rates etc??
