Poorly horse coming home today from vets. I called yesterday and they said he needed the remedial farrier and there were no appointments today BUT the house vet was going to try and call in a favour and get him done today if they could squeeze him in. We were on our way up to see him anyway and her advice was to leave him overnight 'Just in case' they could get an appointment... Saw him, all fine.
Anyway, I get a call this morning at 0915 saying he is all ready to go. I ask about the remedial farrier and am told brightly that there are no slots. I explain the above and her answer is the same. I then ask if someone can explain exactly what the problem is with my horse's feet (he went in for a poorly tummy) - to which seemingly nobody can. So I am totally in the dark, no idea as to what is actually wrong with my horses feet. Also, if you were trying to squeeze a horse in, surely 0915 would be too early to decide that you couldn't? And if they knew they couldn't, why tell me to leave my horse, thus incurring an extra days livery?
I'd probably be fine with all the above if it wasn't for the TOTAL lack of communication. He has been there for 4 days, I have had 1 phonecall and I have had to call to get any kind of update (I'm talking once at the end of the day beacuse I have been told nothing about what is going on with him - not obsessively calling every hour!!). Everytime I have called there is something else going wrong with him, nobody bothered to call to ask me pertinent questions about his past and he has had a whole manner of tests that I think it would have been appropriate to inform me about, if nothing else, I should have been called to be informed of the outcomes, which I have not.
I know I am quite stressed by the whole thing so may not be in an entirely balanced frame of mind. I'd really appreciate it if you guys could sanity check me -am I right to be rather peeved? I am minded to have a bit of a moan when I get up there but want to make sure I am being fair before I do...
