Hi, recently at a show i saw a lovely santa cruz monoflap saddle and the leather was so soft ect, i didnt have time to ask the shop assistant about it so i thought i'd do some reading up at home, and found they're extremely cheap even though the leather felt lovely, this makes me think maybe there are some other faults that are hidden...
does anyone own or ridden in a santa cruz and if so how did you find it? what shape does it fit ect, i can call up the saddler but i want to find out more about the saddle first.
thank you

Soft leather simply means it is likely to be double calf skin, it can still be good or poor quality. English style flaps, ie normal double flaps, are made from a thicker part of the hide, butt leather. I presume SC saddles are Argentinian, no idea on the price, but some are reasonable value and not terrible saddles at all, some can be quite nice. Just not the same quality as an English saddle.
