failing that my tb is fine, bloods ok, back etc im now looking at her diet to give her some oomph! She has a cracking jump but at the moment she's scraping over them, falling asleep in line ups and generally you could use her in a riding school (shes 5!).
The only problem is she is finicky about what she eats and only eats about 500-600g in a meal, and leaves the rest if anymore. I got samples from Saracen and she LOVED it, surprisingly since we cant get it here in Ireland great!
They say they could get it over with some other KER products and they said she would need 500g of speed mix a day, 300g of biolife and 500g of equijewel which may 'wake her up'. Does anyone use saracen & how did the horses perform, did they all find it palatable? 'Speed mix' concerns me by name i need oomph not speed! Comments greatly appreciated

I cant comment on your choice of feed but my tb has flourished on top spec balancer .It has all the vits and minerals he needs and his coat and hooves are good on it apart from crack which is trauma related.
He is fab weight on this and alpha with oil/520 kg for 16 h horse he was 330 when he was 41/2 and I wont change his feed or take him off balancer because he looks so well .He also keeps pretty level headed considering hes had months off for injuries. Is top spec a option for you they dont need volume which might help its only a small cup of feed twice a day.

Hi thanks for the response, she is currently on topspec comp balancer and a cup morning and evening. She is also fed their conditioning flakes up to two cups (if i can get them into her) in each feed, i will agree she looks well, but could look abit better and lacks sparkle! I am now trying oats in addition to this before i try saracen, she is soo fussy & will not touch alot of major brands!

I had similiar problem with mine at that age hes 7 now .Do you think she is still maturing and is probably tired if she has a high work load.I put mine on comp mix the once and it blew his mind.Perhaps its the end of the season and she just needs a break. If she ex racer she has probably been in work for 3 years already.
I use the conditioning flakes too in the winter.
Does she have haylage or hay.My boy is very whizzy on haylage that might be enough to give her the get up and go you want.

She was never raced and was off 6wks ago for 10weeks as i was broken! She is out during the day and in at night and is fed ad lib haylage, which she will eat if she doesnt like her 'hard feed'. I keep her in the say before a competition to see if that livens her up bu not much. Im not saying she is lazy as she moves off your leg well she just needs some 'presence' & more sparkle to do flatwork (shes schooled every now and again in the field so she couldnt be bored as hardly ever in a school!) & going over jumps she is'nt making an effort until there 1.10/1.20 then she'l wake up!
She's baffled me maybe she needs to be fed racehorse mix to ride her?!

Mine just went up in the air with extra feed and I dont like riding vertically lol .Shes still a baby another year might make a huge difference. One of my instructors always recommends hunting to liven them up and a change of scenery .Not that I have ever done it my boys been broken since may last year. All self inflicted apart from spavin which he couldnt help.
There is a feed out that is supposed to give instant oomph i think its spillers you can just give it when you need it .Its the same makers as winergy I feel 90% certain its spillers instant .

Have you tried Red Mills? that is Irish - Donkey had samples of that and loved them - especially the stud mix, think she is trying to tell me something.

Maybe try some Equine America Pro-pell Plus. It's a red cell supplement, boosts their immune system and just wakes them up generally. Brilliant stuff when they're getting a little lethargic. I wouldn't mess with the feeds if the horse is fussy as then you could end up with a horse that won't eat anything! x

My boy is on Saracen Show Improver Mix, to get some condition on him. He loses weight really easily and so far this has been the only thing that can keep it on him. Doesn't fizz him up at all either

I might try some pro pell as i dont want to mess about with her and might stick her onto the original food of red mills super performer, i think i changed cause mum was & could pinch hers but think i'll stick with the tryed and tested, thanks for all your help and will keep you updated as working hunter again next week!
