Has this sent anybody's horses crazy??
Put my horse on this on Saturday rode him a couple of times since he was fine now it's in he's system and he's on full amount hacked out this afternoon and he was crazy bucking leaping napping badly growled and gave him a smack and he lept through the air **** forward and went to bolt. Then continued to shoot from beneath me leap and snort round the entire field ! He's normally a bit hot under saddle when it's fresh out but never like this! They told me it was non heating. Anyone had any experience with this? X

I haven't. I've fed it to various different types of horses, including one that's highly sensitive to sugar (goes whappy!) without ill effect.

Has anything else changed? On new pasture? Grass coming through?

I guess any combination of food has the potential to upset a horse. My whappy one can't have sugar beet for example.

It may have been that it was twilight mum suggested as he's a baby that may have worried him a bit .. I'm going to ride in the morning if he's the same he'll be back on calm and condition and see how he goes .. I read the back and couldn't see anything that would make him loopy food hasn't affected him since I got him but he is turning 5 so maybe now he's feeling bigger and stronger he's just testing he's boundaries a bit

Not had that affect on my boy (OTTB) and he goes loopy on most things!

Perhaps the warmer weather and sunshine has made the grass grow a bit?

I went to great trouble to get some as highly recommended by my vet for a particular horse - a top level show jumper (Grade A international) ridden by professional.

Horse went off its head and performance deteriorated. Stopped feeding and normal service resumed! I did not buy any more so may be it is just some horses that are affected?

I was going to try it for one of our horses (egus sufferer) but when I researched it I discovered that it is very high in starch so wouldnt be suitable. Perhaps that is what tipped your horse over the edge as some simply cant tolerate too much starch? I spoke their helpline who admitted that it can spark some horses up, and they suggested another product which I cant remember (build up pellets/top up pencils maybe?) anyway, by then I had lost confidence in the rep so didnt try either feed.

Thank you for your replys I put him back on calm and condition last night. I will speak to Saracen again but maybe some are just intolerable to it and him being one of them :)
