Has anyone used this? I'm looking to try it for my cribber because it's cereal free & I'm fed up with having various sacks on the go to mix up my own (plus it's a nightmare if I need to ask anyone else to do him!)

I use it on my mare after they recommended it, she can be a real hot head on competition mixes. I also like the fact it is low in starch and reduces the risk of tying up which can be seen with horses fed high starch diets

you should have a look at winergy equilibrium growth. it's completely cereal free and i think much better than releive cos it's actually a fibre so takes them longer to chew, more saliva, increases ph blah, blah blah.

they were very helpful when i've spoken to them before 01908 226626

Horsegroupie have you tried phoning Saracen & asking if there's anyone in your area who is a stockist? They seem very helpful & friendly so I'm sure they'll help if they can.

Scarlett 1980 thanks for the suggestion. Re-Leve is cereal free & very high fibre too but is made so it looks more like a mix than a chaff which is useful for me as Mr Fussy isn't too keen on chaff type feeds

. He already gets a lot of hay (5-6 slices a night) so is probably doing plenty of chewing anyway! I'll maybe call them & ask if they can send me a sample though so I can at least see if he'll eat it.

They are dead helpful there - i rang them and they sent me samples. I think its great - i use it on my mare who has had stomach ulcers - she is mega fussy but she loves it! It can be hard to get hold of though - i am lucky a place close to me stocks it.
They are only quite a small company based in Maidstone, Kent.
Good luck!

Helenpuddingella they've sent me a couple of generous sized samples so I already know he'll eat it, the bowl was shiny clean & he kept going back to check he hadn't missed any

. I'm lucky, a shop about 5 miles from me stocks it so getting hold of it isn't a problem either. I'm pleased your mare with ulcers does well on it, although the vet thinks it unlikely that Jim does he's responded so well to U-Gard & is such a stressy person that I have my suspicions ..... I'm not prepared to have him scoped unless I have to though.

Sleepingdragon10 that's an unbelievably glowing white SWO in your sig! Is everything ok with JAK now? I miss her posts

I used to use it......am a bit undecided on it really.

My boy was on it because of azoturia-proneness, but he was still hot on it. Even a little amount would fizz him up, although he didn't tie up on it.

He's now on HiFi Lite with oil and is a much more relaxed chappy.

I'm getting really fed up of trying to help people and them just asking me stupid questions like that. I always try to put the brand on so people can find it easily but reccomend lots of differnet feeds, not just winergy. although I have to say I have found them to be the most helpful so that maybe why i rave about them so much.

i wont bother in future if its a) not helpful or b) taken in the wrong context.

sorry, was just trying to be helpful

I can't blame SD10 for being suspicious, as we do have a problem on the forum with people registering on here and posting purely to promote their own products. I must admit that I thought you had some commercial interest in Winergy as well, as they do seem to feature in an awful lot of your postings!

Apologies if that is not the case, but previous experiences make us quite cynical!

SD10, I think you have good grounds for your suspicions - 73 of Scarlett's 107 posts specifically mention either Spillers or Winergy products by name and, surprise, surprise, both are owned by the same company, Effem Equine.

I'll leave HHOers to draw their own conclusions from that!

Exactly! For every feed related question apparently Winergy is the answer.....*rolls eyes*

Think what you like. If you asked me what super market to buy food from I'd nearly always say Tesco's, if you wanted to know where I thought you should buy a top from I'd nearly always say Topshop, what orange juice to buy - I'd say Tropicana.

What can I say, I'm a creature of habit and loyal to the brands I trust and who have helped me. I'm not going to debate about it. People can either listen to my advise along with everyone elses or not.

I'm a bit sad about this as I only thought I was helping people and making friends. This is turning out to be a bit of a HHO clique in itself which I think is a shame. You might end up putting off new members all together.

Sorry for any offence caused, I'll not bother in future.

. I think it is important that HHOers (both new and old) realise that not all advice on here is totally genuine and some posters may have hidden agendas.

This forum is renowned for it's frank and robust discussion and I am quite happy to question anyone on their views, whether the user has joined years ago, or just the day before. I must agree, however, that it is probably not the ideal place for people who do not like their ideas being challenged!

I do hope I'm not in trouble for asking about a specific feed!

[/ QUOTE ] Of course not! People regularly ask for opinions on specific products on here and HHOers are happy to give their views. Not a problem at all (unless Admin deemed a comment to be defamatory if it is too slating of a particularl company).

However, you do often find what I term "one topic posters" who regularly plug the same product over and over again, and rarely post about anything else. Often it turns out the poster has a vested interest in the company, so it is always wise to be aware of this! It a kind of undercover advertising! If in doubt it is often interesting to check the user's posting history!

I wish you success in find a feed that suits your horse
