Hi, I've been wanting to change my horse's feed for a while now as she's a very good doer in light work but she can get rather excitable. I need a basic feed that is low in energy and just provides the nutrients she needs to mix in with her chaff and supplements.
Have any of you used the saracens fibre pencils or any of the other saracens products for a fizzy horse?
Thanks

Not tried these but I feed Baileys Fibre plus complete nuggets. They are chunky treat sized ones so can be fed in a treat ball rather than in a bucket and even on the floor in the field.

Let me know how you get on with them

My good doer has Saracens High Fibre pencils with a handful of chaff, in the winter. He can be very fizzy and I find he does well on these. He gets nothing in the summer - he lives out.

If she is a very good doer then you might be better off with a balancer or powdered vit/min supplement as these will supply micronutrients without excess calories.

If you want to feed Saracen Fibre Pencils in sufficient quantities to supply the RDA of vit/mins, then you would have to feed approx 3.5 kg to a 600kg horse which is likely to supply more calories than a very good doer would need.
