So one of mine has a sarcoid on his inner stiffle. It was lazered years back. Left a scar. Then grew again. Very quickly over the years To the size of a golf ball. Although ugly .. never interfered with tack, obviously, or movement. And has been dormant for four years. Then .. a month ago when I got covid, he started to bite it. And it bleed. Had vet out. Sedated. He had a piece of tail hair caught up. And it had caused irritation. He’d annoyed it. Got infection. So .. it’s been scrubbed to an inch of its life. On strong antibiotics. A week later. It’s drying up again. He’s ignoring it. Vet said if lazered again. It wouid leave a crater and if one cell left. It will grow again. And it’s sitting in a main artery. I thought I’d try the herbal route. It’s 34 pounds. So not excessive. Reviews are mixed on website. Photo after vet scrubbed 18177F77-5419-47A6-8226-FC1388D1D932.jpeg

It doesn’t seem to have slowed the growth of mines sarcoids at all sadly. Vet said his are as aggressive as they have seen.

I promise I'm not usually a magic water sprinkler but I have had personal success on two separate horses (one of whom was vet diagnosed sarcoid one was not and could have been nasty fly bite that lasted 6 months - I guess..)
with high fluoride toothpaste. Clearly you might want to wait until the current infection is fully healed but the most recent one I used it on it went all scabby then dried and came off with all the scabs, it was a flatter type mind.

It didn't seem painful and the horse in question didn't object to the toothpaste being applied every day / other day.

I don't think there is much risk of harm and you never know - you might be lucky.

Getting the horse healthy from within, as Sarc-ex attempts to do, is not such a bad shout. My regular vet says that some of her clients think that Sarc-ex has helped their horses.

My own sarcoid prone mare's multiple sarcoids seem to be much calmer and/or haven't recurred after banding since I put her on oily herbs after her Equibiome test results.

ETA She'd previously been assessed by Prof K as needing sarcoid treatments costing £2.5k plus.

On a brighter note, a close friend of mine on the yard has successfully used this on a number of occasions on her horse and I have witnessed very positive results. Maybe it depends on the type of sarcoid? I would definitely give it a go though. Maybe talk to Global Herbs and vet??

I purchased a very poor young cob with a large flat sarcoid on her shoulder and a few others on face. She immediately went on Sarc Ex and it worked. She had full dosage from the day I got her home and with a couple of weeks they were all shrinking and they all disappeared even the large one on her shoulder. They never came back. She had come from Ireland and was very poor, but it definitely worked.

It depends on what is going on, very useful on young horses with poor immunity and I put that down to the herpes virus. If the horse is in excellent health then you are probably wasting money. I have been following sarcoid cure on Facebook on mine. I had run out of bloodroot and you cannot get hold of it now. I am pretty convinced mine is due to poor immunity as also arrived copper deficient. It’s tricky not being able to get bloodroot as always my no1 choice.

I used sarc ex for months, nothing changed. Put the horse on sarc xpell and all 13 sarcoids vanished within a couple of months. They were small, flat ones though and it is quite possible they just went of their own accord, as sarcoids are just so unpredictable.

My mare had 2 Brussel sprout size sarcoids banded successfully. She then started growing 2 more on her inner thighs, quite quickly and the vet said to laser it. I started her on Sarc ex and the one which was the size of a marble stopped growing straight away and over about 6 months it slowly dried up, bits peeled off it and eventually it fell off. There was always a flat bald patch where it was before but now that has even grown hair and you wouldn’t know anything was there. The other one just disappeared, wasn’t very big.
I am usually sceptical about supplements but this definitely worked

So sorry to hear that. I wish I could wave a magic wand and it just falls off
It’s awful isn’t it. His has grown and grown from nothing a year ago to the size of a lemon now. And the next ones are starting to come through. He has been on sarc-x or their immune one and echinacea as well as gut support etc but they just keep on growing. Removal isn’t an option as it would require a GA. I think it’s on the verge of ulcerating. It’s so horribly unfair.

Around 11 years ago, my daughters 5 year old Quarter Horse developed about 10 very large angry looking sarcoids in front of his sheath. Very expensive Liverpool cream made no difference, so I tried Sarc -Ex as a last resort. Initially they increased in size, but then started to notice them very gradually drying and shrinking. Took over 9 months but they all disappeared, and he was still free of them 5 years later when we lost him to a field accident.

I’ve tried so many treatments for the sarcoids on my gelding, even Liverpool treatment which left him with a scar worse than the sarcoid. I refused further Liverpool treatment creams on his remaining sarcoids under his thigh and under his jaw.

As a last resort I joined a Facebook group called Equine Lumps n Bumps in the hope of finding something more natural that actually works. Decided to give the drawing balm a try after seeing some positive experiences.

Drawing balm cleared the one on his inner thigh using just one tub of the balm. He also allowed me to touch the area throughout the treatment and the one under his jaw also cleared without treating topically as the balm clears the whole system. Not had a recurrence and sarcoids all gone!

Exactly what TP said. I had some success with using sarc ex but the real results came after the equibiome test and putting him on oily herbs.

I also tried bloodroot cream which I guess "worked" in the sense that part of the sarcoid came off but it was bloody, sore, and didn't get to the root so scabbed over and then did nothing.

My horse’s were removed by making them shrivel up and then essentially cut off - she had one like this where her noseband sat and so she was constantly irritating it when she ate hay. They never came back.

I can’t remember the name of the process (annoyingly), don’t know if anyone else knows what I mean?

I had success using Thuja tablets homeopathically, that was the only thing I could identify as having changed in his routine. Not sure how much I logically believe/credit homeopathy, but that's what happened.
Hope you manage to find a solution.

Mine is v prone to sarcoids, they seem to flare up when he’s feeling run down or ‘poorly’ - I kind of liken it to when people get cold sores? so I really focus on helping his immune system (summer was terrible with the draught and lack of grass - his coat really lost its shine and voila, an old sarcoid popped back up again).

He’s had two treated by vets (through experimental drug trials as they were such rare types of sarcoids… honestly only him haha), but the others we treated at home with a combo of flour and salt paste, and thuja cream. The flour and salt made the biggest difference.

I also have him on Sarc-Ex to help him fight them internally. I don’t think it’s healed him as such, but he hasn’t had any new flare ups since being on it, and the old ones haven’t come back or have regressed/got smaller. So it’s not a magic potion but it’s something I’ll keep him on.

Has been a lot of trial, error, and heartache. And I’m v lucky to have a friend who knows a lot about them to guide us through it. Hope you find something that works x

I feed mine radiance gold for gut health but a happy side effect is that it helps shrink sarcoids. I have a mare with a few small sarcoids in her armpit and one sprouted out and dropped off within a couple of weeks during the summer. I leave them alone otherwise as too small to cause issue.

**** Edited to add that I have calculated based on g here, not ml - the scoop is 25ml not grams - my error. Not sure how many scoops in a tub then, trial and error I suppose, or you can weigh a scoop full

depending on build, TB probably 630kg, warmblood 650-675kg I would take a sweeping guess at. So feed 2.5 x 25g scoops, twice a day. So 125g a day total.
So a 1kg tub at £34.99 will last you 8 days.

Meaning the cost per month for a full dose as recommended by the manufacturer will be £135.50 and you'll need just under 4 tubs a month.
Or you can buy the £150.99 5kg tub and it will last you 40 days.
