Sarcoid hanging off!-Advice please

This winter Jack has grown a small sarcoid near his sheath under his stomach. Since he has been roughed off and turned out it has got a bit bigger and ulcerated I guess with flies, we have been keeping it covered with yellow fly cream, when the vet comes for his booster next week we were going to ask for some blood root ointment. BUT this morning it is hanging off and just holding on by a bit of skin (too much to just pull it off) it has left a hole in his stomach. We have cleaned it up with hibiscrub and sprayed it with purple spray, no sign of infection. My question is will it die and shrival up and just drop off where it is attatched, or what shall we do?
 
I'm not an expert but i would imagine it will eventually drop off. i wonder if you can speed it up by tying it off with a piece of cotton, tight, around the attached bit, to stop any blood flow to it. I think all I would worry about as it is now is that if may get caught and torn off but you will know if that is likely as you know exactly where it is.
 
Personally I'd be inclined to call the vet. It could be that it just drops off on it's own, but as it's just hanging off it could have the posibility of ripping the skin further. My stepmothers' mare had a sarcoid banded recently- which dried up and came off quite neatly, but as your boys' has just ripped rather than being banded and drying up slowly I'd be more concerned about further skin damage. Also I'm quite wary of touching sarcoidal skin with anything- ointments etc as they are soooo unpradictable. Have a chat to your vet and good luck.
 
it should drop off but my concern would be the flies at the minute, personally as its where it is Id probably just do as you are doing keep it clean, maybe call vet for some over the phone advice?
 
This happened to my horses sarcoid last spring and I called the vet who actually removed the core of the sarcoid as it was left in. The worse thing was trying to keep the flies off it all last summer but I am happy to report that it hasnt re grown this spring!

My advice would be to call your vets to discuss with them.
