My horse has sarcoids one in his arm pit which is hanging away from my horses body, which he keeps knocking and the other on his inner thigh.

I am currently using thuja cream but nothing appears to be happening.

I was thinking of banding the sarcoid under his armpit, has anyone else had any experience with banding and whether you can still ride while the sarcoid is banded?

I’ve banded one but If you aren’t confident it’s best to get the vet to do it as it does leave a wound. It will be sore so expect to modify your riding plans for a couple of weeks.

Thank you, would you just do light work for the next few weeks until it is heeled ?

I think you’d need to be guided by your horse. If it’s only little it might not bother them. Do be aware the band needs to be very tight. I’d also keep flies from helping themselves to it as it could make it worse.

Don't be surprised if it has roots and leaves a much bigger hole than you are expecting. In my experience, they look like starfish and sometimes need more killing off. If in any doubt at all, get your vet to see it.

My horse had one frozen off (between armpit and chest) and I was shocked how sore he was after it. He was very sore for a good few days and definitely not rideable for a few weeks. But many years later it still hasn't returned. I don't think I'd be trying to band one myself to be honest. I'd be afraid of leaving some behind and it just getting worse.
