My beautiful boy has a Fibrolastic sarcoid near his pastern on the side (facing the other leg).

We have treated 3 x Liverpool chemo cream.
First treatment: unsuccessful - sarcoid grew more.
Second treatment: Took well and sarcoid dropped out. Wound started to close but due to the area he kept bumping it and wound never healed and sarcoid looked like it reseeded.
Third treatment: didn’t take very well, started growing again.

Our biggest challenge is him knocking the area. Does anyone have advice on how to prevent this? We have tried so many things so any advice would be much appreciated.

Is it possible to laser it out, it might be more successful? Then treat the wound with acyclovir to prevent reseeding is pretty routine. And bandage/boot 24/7 until it's healed.

It should have been best but it's failed repeatedly, so maybe time for another approach if it's possible on a leg. It may need more flesh.

I'd suggest the mudsocks type boots for turnout and bandages to ride in.

Difficult as we are now in fly season. It is recommended that all treatments involving open wounds are done over winter to avoid the flies. Turnout boots with padded liners are probably your best option at this point. You need something that won't rub, cause excess heat/sweat, with an antiseptic cream added each time you reapply the boots?
