Hi,

So I’ve recently bought a Hanoverian mare, she has quite a few sarcoids well they were removed last year before I bought her, however they have still left “lumps” one in particular is right on her girth area, I use a fluffy girth but it still rubs, I am in contact with my saddler to see if she has a girth that may go around it,
I’ve also been reading up on sarc-ex, can this be given even after the sarcoids have been removed but left lumps?

Thank you

Yes, you can feed Sarc - Ex before, during and after sarcoid removal. Anecdotally it works for a number of horses. In any case, boosting the horse's general health with a good supplement or balancer as needed can do no harm and can help the horse to fight them off.

Is the lump in the girth area a sarcoid trying to regrow?

Good luck.

I believe it is trying to regrow, they were removed before I bought her, the others don’t seem to be growing, it’s just the one on the girth area that is causing a problem, my saddler is hoping she has a girth that goes round it, thank you!

It's possible that the recent move has caused her stress and the sarcoids have come back, they tend to be linked to low immune system, illness and stress.

My horse has a few come up after him being lame or ill I make sure he has a vitamin mineral supplement, I also feed aloe vera juice if I feel his a bit run down or been unwell it can help the immune system.

All of his sarcoids came and went on there own over time his currently only got 1 in his nostril but it's getting flatter and seems to be going as well.

If a ‘lump’ left behind was trying to re-grow, I’d question whether it was removed entirely?

when I bought her, she has stayed at the same yard in the same stable as I also work there, the only change is she was out of work for a while due to the sarcoids being removed and also she had a bad back from a bad fitting saddle so she’s only recent come back into full work.

I think sometimes it can be the most minor of things they can be so delicate at times, after the saddle causing issues did you get a physio out or someone to check her back was still not sore?

Yes, she had regular physio until her back was better now she has physio everu 2-3 months as she’s 18.3 and also the saddle fitter fitted a new saddle, which gets checked every few weeks as she is 6 and still growing and building muscle and I started her with groundwork before getting back on to build her up first.
