Has anyone had experience where a sarcoid has erupted throught the skin and fallen off? This has happened to my geldings' and I am wondering if it will now disappear completely or grow back again.

My horse had two sarcoids - one needed the chemo cream and fell off and the other just fell off and never came back.... I think its hard to know for sure. I think it differs from case to case as the treatment does too.

I've had 3 do this. First one didn't grow back. Second one - several grew back. Third is too early to tell. As always with sarcoids it's unpredictable. But be very gentle & only wash /faff with as little as you have to as there may well still be sarcoid celss around & best to keep disturbance to a minimum.

My horse's sarcoid exploded taking its stalk with it, leaving a hole at least a half inch deep. It has never returned and you'd never know it had been there .... but she did then develop one somewhere else.

My mare was on Global Herbs Sarc-X and it made some of the smaller sarcoids explode and fall out completely.

They just healed up and the skin grew back nicely.

the 'chemo cream' is a special cream made at the Liverpool University Hospital and is the most commonly used and effective method for getting rid of sarcoids.

your vet will take pictures of the sarcoid, send them off and he will be sent cream especially made up for your horse's sarcoid.
only your vet can apply it as it is seriously potent stuff.

my horse has had 2 courses and his is now hanging on by a thread- should fall off this week fingers crossed!

the cream is called "liverpool cream" for the reason that millitiger has explained.

It is basically a toxic cream which..... kind of..... burns the sarcoid off I think is the best way of describing it.
Being medical treatment it requires veterinary guidance etc with it, and also veterinary administration normally due to its potency etc.....

but it does do wonders, however it is rarely used around the facial area.. for obvious risk reasons, and rarely used on the sheath as im sure that would just hurt! (not a man, so cant relate, but still makes me shudder)

My boy's are on his sheath and we should be starting the Liverpool treatment next week.
