My horse has what I thought was a sarcoid....Its really small (about the size of you little fingertip), positioned between her front legs, joined in the skin but not underneath. Its open all the time and is seeping, but not hugely, enough that when she lies down a bit of straw will get stuck. But anyway....had a vet look at it and he said it wasn't a sarcoid at all and that it must be a girth gall (i wasn't there at the time to tell him obviously my girth doen't fit between its front legs....?!) so to leave it alone....
Anyway, its been growing up till this point dead slowly for about 6 months, and doesn't seem to be getting any worse or better....it doesn't seem to bother her, even when you have a prod and a poke
Any ideas what it is????

A sarcoid

Surely as you say, you dont get girth galls between the front legs, also I would have thought it would have cleared up by now if it was anything 'normal'

You could always try the Camrosa cream on it to see if it goes away.... to be honest your vet is kind of doing you a favour by not saying it is a sarcoid (if it is) as if treatment takes place over a year from when diagnosed your insurance will probably refuse to pay... coz it was there before your renewal date.... thats their new ploy to prevent paying for the treatment IMO

Hi Ponystuff - you could try Thuja cream (can send you the link to Paws4Health if you would like - they will send you a MAHOOSIVE jar in the post and you send a cheque by return - fab service). My Section D has had a couple of iffy little lumps pop up. One was treated by the vet with Liverpool cream and (touch wood) has gone completely. A couple of other flat, sort of sore, scurfy places under his mane aren't defo sarcoids but neither do they look normal. Thuja cream has got rid of TWO completely and I'm just starting it on a 3rd that has popped up under his forelock. x

Ive heard that Camarosa cream gets rid of sarcoids too. It is expensive to buy but not as burning on the skin as the sarcoid creams available from the vet (that they have to apply to the sarcoid for you). I know of a handfull of Connemaras and Conn x's with sarcoids. Just thought i would add that!!.

Yeah I was considering camrosa, but didn't want to start treating it aggressivly until I was sure what it was...half of me says treat it as a sarcoid before it gets big and nasty, and the other half says leave it alone and see how it develops....what you think? which one would you do?
I'll have to get a piccy of it - not that I've figured out how to put them on here yet!

I would be inclined to attack it now! as it has been progressively growing over the months. Ive heard that the best time to treat them is over the winter, so the flies dont nibble on them (as the lesions sometimes weep more during treatment). Or maybe get a 2nd opinion form a vet the next time one visits your yard?. Hope all goes well and good luck.
