hello,
i know this has been done before

is there any home-remedies you can try to reduce ths size of them at all?

My trainer swears by teatree oil on neat as many times a day as you can manage (about 2-3!) Her horses disappeared with it, and it wont do any harm if it does nothing!!!

FranA - if you search the Forum threads, I think you'll find that Thuja - cream might be easier than tablets - at a minimum of 30c potency has had some impressive and consistent results. I've never heard of castor oil and you need to be cautious with tea tree oil. I'm not an expert but I understand that tea tree oil works by encouraging cell growth, which then encourages healing. However, sarcoids are a form of skin cancer and cancer is so damaging because - loosely - it is cell growth running out of control. So applying something that will encourage cell growth when it may already be running off half cocked may not be a good idea. I'd talk to your vet and a reputable complementary therapy practitioner. I don't think this counts as advertising - just trying to help - but I got a mahoosive tub of 30c potency Thuja cream mail order from Paws4Health for about £20 I think it was. And it's already cleared 2 flat sarcoids under my horse's mane. Very best of luck with this x

Sarcoids are funny things because no-one really knows what causes them. Tea tree oil is seriously strong stuff and is the only stuff that can battle the MRSA virus, so the thought is that if the sarcoid is created through a breakdown in the immubne system or almost a viral type invasion it will effectively break it down and kill it!! But depends what your theories are on what causes the sarcoid in the first place!

give bloodroot salve a go its great and you apply it yourself we have a gelding that had 24 occult and fibrablastic ones and this cream has worked.
we have used the liverpool cream and then the following spring they returned (as they do).
but give it a go if you type it into google you will get the site in america.
it works the same as l-cream and you must wear gloves.
im not saying they are gone for good but fingers crossed.
good luck

Sarcoids which are similar to warts are the bodys way of getting rid of nasties in the body. They are there for a reason and doing a job which is why the immune system is compromised.
Thuja cream and pillules act from within the body and help extract the horrid stuff the body is trying to get rid of naturally which is why freezing , cutting them off etc only lets another one pop up.
Supressing them will only send the stuff the body is trying to get rid of somewhere else within the body and cause other problems later on.

Google (or whatever other search engine you use!) the following three words.... black salve sarcoids ..... My daughter's horse (bought from a friend who's married to a vet) had a sarcoid on his sheath and they used the "Liverpool ointment" on him. I'm not 100% convinced it's gone and, if it reappears, I will try black salve. Anyone else tried it???

Beau has a sarcoid on his chest, I have been using Sarc Ex cream on him and it has visibly reduced.

Lance used to have a few sarcoids, on his sheath and fetlock, they were removed using liverpool cream and have never returned.

Beau's doesnt bother him so I will continue with the cream for now.

bloodroot ointment worked for my horse's. i would try the tea tree otherwise, i think. it depends where the sarcoid is... the bloodroot gets smeared easily if it's anywhere that gets rubbed by another part of the body as the horse moves, if you see what i mean.
