My beloved riding school star, Frodo, has a damn sarcoid right next to his kissable lips! Anyone out there had any good, bad or indifferent experiences before we try it. Frodo has already been seen by our Vet but the location makes conventional treatment very difficult!

Would appreicate your comments! On Camerosa or other products!

Thanks.

NO NO NO!! Do not use Camrosa on sarcoids, it encourages cell growth, and will not distinguish between good or bad cells. Would you use it on a skin cancer? Your vet should be sending pics to Liverpool, listen to the experts.

You took the words out of my mouth! OP please contact Prof Knottenbelt at Liverpool.

Original Poser here. Well, pics have been sent to Liverpool and BCG treatment ordered but at £750 it just can't be done!

Any other treatments out there?

Zovirak (sp?) the herpes cream, very new research has shown it can get rid of them. One of the liveries on my yard has started to use this along with melanix and the sarcoids are going. It is not as aggressive as LP cream which is very agressive so much that some horses hate you applying it. Also feed hilton herbs Melanix, I would highly recommend this.I've known 3 horses who have been on this while having sarcoids in early stages and they have dropped off/disappeared within 1-2 months.

Anything with 'promotes healthy skin growth' or something along those lines on it, stay well away.

I have a similar problem atm.

I'm having my mares sarcoid banded and then treating it with liverpool cream, I am also going to feed her global herbs sarc-ex feed supplement.

It took me forever to decide what to do about it....

it is obviously not a straight forward sarcoid if BCG has been recommended. however BGC treatment works very well. NO NO NO to camarosa or aloe vera. dont mess with it unless you go down the BCG route as recommended by your and liverpool vets! as a riding school horse i am sure if he is good he would soon earn his treatment.

Just to buck the trend (!), I have used
aloe vera liquid (in feed) - platelet sarcoid vanished
thuja ointment - lumpy sarcoid fell off
Camrosa - on several occasions, lumpy sarcoids fell off
Global Herbs Sarc-ex - fed in conjunction with the thuja and the camrosa

I understand others wariness regarding camrosa, but it has worked on the occasions I've used it.

My horse has a verrucus sarcoid just above the corner of his mouth, its a flat scaly type of sarcoid. Vet yesterday said they use bloodroot to treat them. I was quoted a price which was £35 for a third of a small pot. I was told it has a high sucess rate. I have not bought the treatment yet as i wanted to look into it more and last night on the internet i saw nothing but good feedback. My vet is back next week so i am definately going to give it a try x
