Sarcoids disappearing?

The big ginger pony has had two sarcoids (confirmed by vet) between her hind legs for at least 4 years now. Over the summer this had spread to 4 in between her front legs as well. After discussing treatment options I thought I'd just leave them, she is a stressy 22 year old vet-phobic TB and they were small (ranging in size of a 5p - 50p coin), flat and circular and looked like dry, hairless skin (I'm not sure of the technical term..) and they did not effect her at all.

I'd just grown used to her having them - however over a period of a couple of weeks they just disappeared! Nothing in her management changed. But she is out 24/7 on relatively good grass with adlib hay.

Obviously I'm thrilled - but just curious to see if this has happened to anyone else? Did they come back?

Yes it did to me. My old lad had a small (5p) warty sarcoid on his belly about three inches behind his girth and it was there at least five years. Occasionally it flared up, needing antiseptic cream and fly repellant. Then one day it dropped off, leaving a little hole which also needed antiseptic etc but once that had healed, it never returned, there was no scar and you would never know it had been there.
New lad has an occult sarcoid on his face and I think that is far less likely to disappear.

Yes, they commonly flare up with stress ( that's why it's common for a previously sarcoid free new horse to suddenly develop them in their new home! ) and they will often drop off when they're feeling happy relaxed and healthy. They can also just randomly dissappear too! Which is always huge relief!
