Sarcoids - lasering????

I am just looking for some info on sarcoids... does anyone have any experiences of them.
A friend of mine is going to look at a horse this weekend that had been sold but failed its vetting due to sarcoids. The buyers changed there mind due to the sarcoids, he had them lasered off on Tuesday at New Market, he had 2 on his chest, one on his girth line and 1 on his sheath.
Does she steer clear, or still look? She won't be able to ride on Saturday due to the one on the girth line.
Any advice would be great.

If it was on the girth line I would steer clear. I had a horse vetted not to long ago who had sarcoids (quite a few around his groin and one in his arm pit) and the vet didn't fail him on those and they didn't bother me one bit (but if it was on the girth I can see why she would fail him).

I wouldn't consider a horse that had sarcoids on or near his girth area as they do tend to grow back, even if lasered.
Also after the lasering it leaves scar tissue on the skin so I would be worried about the girth rubbing too.

WOW OMG that is such a good result. They want £5k for this horse so its not even like its a bargain! Thankyou for posting that its very very interesting. How is he doing noe, do they thing they will grow back?

He is doing well now thanks, the skin has all more or less healed apart from right up between his thighs, which is nearly there. You can't really see from the pic's but the sarcoids and lasered area goes right through to his sheath area.
When he was younger he had a small one on his face and a tiny bump near his sheath and unfortunately they just spread, as you can see from the pic.

My horse had small ones in between his thighs when I bought him as a 5 year old. He was quite poor at the time and once his condition improved they gradually disappeared, forward on 10 years and he has never had anything since (fingers crossed!).

So I've seen it from both sides, but the way it has affected my friends' horse has certainly put me off ever buying anything with them again.

ETA: Sorry forgot to say; there is every chance the sarcoids will grow back, however it has certainly made him more comfortable for now so it was a good job done!

If you have a horse with sarcoids, removalbylaser is painless and casues less discmofort than some experince with Liverpool cream.

If this horse has has a girth area one lasered, it will be some weeks beforee can be riddeni a saddle and even with lasering there is a chance they can come back in the same area.
