I posted a while ago after the vet had diagnosed sarcoids on my 6 year old gelding. I found about 5 on him. Vet prescribed Liverpool Cream, and I have been waiting for it to arrive. However, over the last few days I have noticed that they all seem to have gone, he's just left with a small mark which you wouldn't notice unless you knew where to look. Has anyone else any experience of them just disappearing, and did they come back.?

A friend of mine had a mare with three big sarcoids under its belly, vet recommended treating but as half way through event season and not causing a problem, she decided not to. Mare did a leg and was put in foal. Sarcoids literally fell off and never came back!! Was thought due to hormone changes. Not sure how this could apply to your gelding tho

Not at all strange! Sarcoids can simply vanish. They might well return... who knows! However, it sounds hopeful that they are gone for good because he is a young horse. When they self resolve in a younger horse, the chances of them returning are much smaller than with an aged horse. Something to do with the immune system they think.

A homeopath told me that they would treat sarcoids by boosting the immune system. Maybe yours simply had the immune response sufficient to get rid of them. Not an awful lot is known about them and I would be tempted (especially as yours were diagnosed) to inform Liverpool. They may want to research - they are the main sarcoid resource in the world (Prof Knottenbelt).

No it really isn't that strange, sarcoids do just disappear and they also reappear almost overnight. Weird things sarcoids.
