Duncan-He has been feeeling a bit tense in his back recently, which is probably why his head has been a bit unsteady, so I ran my hand down and on the near side , just below the spine under the saddle area, I felt a lump. Now, my mmediate thought is a sarcoid, which makes me worry and my 14.2 has them and the vet said to cousin(rider) that she has melonoma, and also can I ride if there under the saddle? Bit of a concern there.

Bertie-he has been unsound for about a month now, was ok for a few days 3 weeks ago but since has been 1-2/10ths lame. He hasn't had heet in it for three weeks so very strange. 2 days ago had the vet out, who said his feet were different sizes and to get the farrier to sort them. Farrier came today and leveld the heels out as much as possible, as they are quite flat. Trotted him up and..just as bad as before. So now I have no clue waht to do, we are going t get him ex-rayed, but if you have any ideas..?

Sorry, this feels totally wrong to post but the forum does seen cursed and I am seriously thinking about leaving soon.

Unusual to get sarcoid under the saddle but not impossible. Is the lump hard and does the horse appear in pain if it is pushed prodded or poked. Some times horses can get collagen necrosis lumps under ythe saddle, these lumps usually cause the horse no pain as they are lumps of hard skin-dead cells. They can become a problem if they get really big. Had horse with three lumps under the saddle caused no problems. If it is collagen lumps best advice leave them alone and they will go away can take up to a year but you can still ride the horse but keep an eye on them and make sure they dont bleed. Vet will tell you if it is collagen necrosis sometimes a biopsy is reqired but any vet worth his salt will have a good idea it it is collagen.
