my horse hasnt actually got big sarcoids but two vest now have noticed small lumps and bald areas on he chest and have expressed a concern they could be sarcoids in the very early stages..i really dont want to have to deal with them later on if they are actually sarcoids?

does anyone know any creams shampoos or anything that could possibly aid to prevent them growing....maybe?:/

Camrosa is NOT good for early stage sarcoids or ANY stage sarcoids in fact. Never use any product on a sarcoid that boasts about helping skin heal faster. Sarcoids are a form of skin cancer and any product that could actually speed up the rate that a cancer grows is a massive no-no. Tea tree and aloe vera products are no-nos too. Thuja at 30c potency at least won't do any harm. Be careful, the only way to be certain that a sarcoid is a sarcoid and not just a lumpy, warty thing is to take a biopsy. But the very act of taking a biospy can trigger an aggressive growth spurt if it is a true sarcoid.

Just a final note, Camrosa is NOT sold as anything to do with sarcoids if you read the fine print on the leaflet that comes with their hideously expensive, toxic product. Unfortunately, you don't know that til after you've bought the hideously expensive, toxic product. Be warned.

What has your vet said!?

My youngster has just got a sarcoid near his sheath, which I noticed and had the vet out to on Thursday.....they were going to 'band' it tomorrow, but it burst on Thursday night, so they are now going to freeze what is left instead.....

From the little I know, and have read, you really shouldn't try random lotions and potions on sarcoids....! They need the proper treatment to maximise the chance of getting rid of them....

I've just got my fingers crossed my boy only gets the one....:-/

Here in Aus, there is a treatment where they implant radioactive "beads" that can destroy the sarcoid cells but pretty much leave the healthy cells alone. Appears to work well.
Sarcoids can be situated in pretty awkward places and some treatments can seem to aggravate the sarcoids too.

Hi as someone else said on here i'd recommend that you do get proper vet treatment but i tried thuja tablets and cream which cost about £25 for the two gave two tablets and put cream on offending area and my boys small sarc cleared up very well - i have to say i've had another horse with worse sarcoids though and it was necessary for the liverpool cream to be applied - if they are just starting though its worth a go, the thuja cream and tablets wont do any damage as they are just an immune system boost nothing bad but i would defo stay away from camrosa its not good for sarcs and can actually increase the cells of the sarc to grow - thuja worked for mines little one though! give it a go

RVC reccommended camrosa as did my vet .

We have not looked back since , on the ones that the camrosa was used on have barely scarred

Do get your vet to check it , that's common sense . But I would rather try with the camrosa before going down the surgical or Liverpool cream road.

Hi just removed 2 off sheath, one about an inch in diameter and one a bit smaller. Both nodular type. Used xxeterra cream (blood root plant I think). About £60 and I applied every day for 4 days left for a month during which rime small one fell off and did one more app and then big one fell off. My vet told me not to touch anything that promotes cell growth especially camrosa.

Listen guys, you have to accept that TRUE sarcoids are a form of skin cancer. I've said this a thousand times before but worth saying again: If you suddenly discovered a growth on your arm that you suspected was skin cancer would you a) buy something off the internet that looked as if it might help, b) try some weird off the wall treatment such as rubbing oven cleaner into your arm, or c) leg it straight down to your GP the same afternoon and demand referral to a specialist.

The hard part in all this is deciding if the dodgy lump/patch on your horse's skin is a true sarcoid or just a warty thingummyjig that LOOKS a bit like a sarcoid. Things that just LOOK like a sarcoid, you can get away with rubbing crap all over them and they'll clear up eventually either because of what you did or in spite of what you did ha ha.

For the definitive, easy to read and understand guide to sarcoids, please please OP go to the world expert on the subject, Professor Derek Knottenbelt of Liverpool Uni. He developed the Liverpool Cream that is so effective on many, many sarcoids. Can never remember the link but Google will find it for you. Read it and you will understand that the only predictable thing about a true sarcoid is their very UNpredictability. Treat them with the utmost respect and don't believe stories of odd stuff being rubbed into a sarcoid and it miraculously healing. It won't have been a true sarcoid in the first place.

Another success for bloodroot - sold under the name of Sarc-off, but I belive it is the same as Xcetera. It was recommende by my vet, and purchased through the vet, and I have heard of many similar successful outcomes.

Sorry Box of F but i don't agree with this at all - i had several sarcs and were confirmed by Dr Knott and several doses of Liverpool cream a massive vet bill and 7 months down the line still had sarcoids - I'm not saying he's not good at what he does because i've had success with it before on another horse but after i used Thuja cream and the tablets they swiftly cleared up and started to shrink away - even the vet agreed that the treatment of Liverpool cream was not effective - i tried the thuja cream and tablets two months after last application of liverpool cream so it was not a delayed reaction - as they were definately confirmed as sarcs I don't agree with the fact that if something other than liverpool cream works they weren't sarcoids due to my experience.
