My Mums horse has a sarcoid on his sheath and its got a lot bigger recently. The vet is coming out to look at it on Friday, but Mum is really worried about it.
What are the chances of it not being a sarcoid and more like a melonoma?
And should Mum be worrying so much?
I cant really advise her, coz I dont really know alot about them.

Best thing to do is go to Prof Knottenbelts sarcoid website - am at work so can't find the link for you but google should find it. Sarcoids are very much "it depends". My mare has just had 5 sarcoids treated - 3 on her girth & saddle areas with Liverpool cream applied topically & 2 between her back legs banded & Liverpool Cream injected. She has lots & the rest have been left as they are not causing problems. I think they tend to leave sarcoidss on the penis unless they are causing problems weeing. Fingers crossed for your Mums horse.

My friends mare has had about 6 of these so far, one was frozen off, one she used the Liverpool cream and one the vet used a band on. Now she is using the Global Herbs supplement which is a supplement and a cream and the sarcoids come up and then eventually pop out and the skin goes back down, she says its cheaper and the mare seems happier. She went down this route because

my horse too had sarcoids on his sheath several small ones the worst were like a bunch of grapes vet advised not taking them off as its like pruning roses the more you cut the more they grow treated him with aloe vera jelly the forever living variety applied liberally daily he hated it but that was 2 years ago and fingers crossed has none at present
