I have recently bought a mare & once getting her home I noticed 4 small hard lumps on her side. I usually wouldnt be too worried as they arent painful to touch, but they are under the saddle flap & I dont want them to get rubbed & sore. 3 of the lumps are under the skin & 1 is a bit bigger & smooth except for a scab in the middle(Im guessing from where a saddle has previously rubbed it.) It is no bigger than a 1 pence piece.
My first guess was sarcoids but as I have had no experience of these I wanted to see what anyone else thinks.
Thanks :D

They do look like sarcoids to me...sorry but bit of an expert now with my warmblood having many in his groin area. Take a look at my post on Thuja and Liverpool cream - its a tricky and difficult decision to decide what to do with sarcoids, but keep your options open.

Thanks just wanted to see what more experienced people thought. Read your post glad the tablets & that worked so well for you. I may leave them for a bit & see what happens & possibly get the vet out I really dont want them getting any worse.

Hi Bex
I have posted on the other thread about my horse's sarcoid and the treatment. One thing I would say to you is that if you plan to claim it on insurance it is wise to get on with it as otherwise before you know it a year has passed and they won't cough up! I couldn't claim for mine as it appeared when the horse was about 2 or 3 (now 6) and so far it has cost me £360. This isn't too bad but it doesn't look like I have got to the bottom of it yet! (Luckily I managed to sell a youngster so have some savings in the bank for vet bills!).
