I've just brought very cheaply a lovely little mare who was going to be PTS because of a couple of Sarcoids!!

Two vets failed her on a vetting and one vet has said they are nothing to worry about! She has one on the base of her ear, one near the corner of her eye and a couple on the back underside of her belly (all nothing more then flat bald patches, other then the one on her face which looks like a very tiny tick head!) So all in places not likely to cause any issues with things like tack.

What have people used that's natural on them and has anything worked? I'm not worried about them they don't bother me or her so isn't worth a vet visit so thought I'd just ask other people's experience.

Thanks.

Hi
My hubby TB had sarcoid around his eye. We initially had injections, expensive but worked for a year or so, then 2 ops to remove, both successful to a point. Last vet visit he suggested, if it returned ( it did) to try silver nitrate pen, used for warts on humans and available from any chemist. We used it as directed on the box, very little at a time. It took about a month of daily applications, being very careful as near his eye, using Vaseline round the area to prevent it running. To date it has not yet re grown. He's bald in the area but has no soreness or lump. I'd speak to your vet about it. If you want any other info get in touch.

You can try supporting her immune system. But ultimately you'll need to get professional advice from the vet. Hopefully you'll be lucky in that they will not develop. However the one by her her eye needs to be watched very, very carefully, and do not be tempted to try any home made remedies on it without your vets advice.

Sarcoids are not to be taken lightly, and horses are put to sleep because of them - my friends horse being one due to their aggressive nature as he got older.
